Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey is Ashutosh Gowarikar's latest film starring Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone. As with some of Ashutosh's previous movies Laggan and Jodha Akbar, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey (KHJJS) is also a historical movie, set in the British Raj era, between 1930 and 1940s.
The movie is based on Manini Chatterjee's book, Dan and Die, wherein she has reconstructed events of a fateful night when 6 ex detenus inspired by the famous Easter Uprising in Dublin (1916) attack armouries of the police and Auxiliary Force in Chittagong. The attack sparked a lot of rebellious events in Bengal, which are described in the book in detail.

What makes the subject more intersting is the fact that it was around this time that Mahatma Gandhi had requested everyone to adopt non-violence as the weapon to fight the British, yet this group thought and acted differently. The revolutionary group, led by Surya Sen (played by Abhishek Bachchan) were ready to lay down their lives for freedom.

Ashu mentions that he is very inspired by the book, and has made every effort to turn it into a fast paced movie. Most of the shooting of Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se will be shot in Swantwadi on the western coast of India.
