Jaya Bachchan Will Be Chief Guest For IFFK 2011

The Chief Minister of Kerala, Mr. Oommen Chandy will inaugrate the 16th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) at Thiruvanathapuram on December 9 2011 at 6 p.m at Nishagandhi open air auditorium, Kanakakunnu in Kerala. Bollywood actress Jaya Bhaduri (Jaya Bachchan ) will be the chief guest for the function. The Chinese film Under the Hawthorn Tree, by Chinese director Zhang Yimou will be screened on inaguration day.

K.B. Ganesh Kumar, who is the Minister for Forests & Environment, Sports and Cinema in the Government of Kerala will preside over the function. Minister K.C Joseph will release the festival catalogue. Daily Bulletin of the fest will be released by Sasi Tharoor M.P by handing over it to minister V.S. Siva Kumar. District Panchayat President Ramani P. Nair, MLAs V.Sivan Kutty and K.Muraleedharan will deliver felicitation speech. A cultural feast will be served along with the programme conceived by noted director T.K. Rajeev Kumar. Eleven films will be showcased in the competition section of International category. National and international delegates and film makers will participate in the week long festival organized by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. As we had mentioned in our earlier report, there wont be any Malayalam movies participating in the competition
